An accountability ladder can show movement from naming a fact to making and checking a repair. This page's ladder is an original organizational aid, not a standardized assessment, developmental ranking, or licensed adaptation of another product.

A worked situation: The update was late

Fictional example. A committee member moves from saying the update was late to naming her missed upload, informing the group, and sharing the file with a revised deadline.

Work through these questions: The update was late

Question or fieldFictional completed example
Fact rung?The update was late
Ownership rung?I missed the upload
Repair rung?Send the file with the new deadline
Evidence rung?Group receives the document
Review rung?Add a reminder before the next meeting

The rungs are questions, not a character hierarchy

Start with the fact and keep the original promise visible. Move to the part you own, then a feasible repair and the evidence you will inspect. A constraint may require help before another step becomes available. The ladder is an original ordering aid; it does not measure moral development or require that every event ends with personal fault.
