Completed fictional invoice
SAMPLE DATA โ a fictional custom cake has a $180 agreed price plus a $20 delivery service. A $60 payment has already been recorded. No tax rule is assumed in this example; applicable tax must be determined separately.
| Invoice line | Quantity | Unit amount | Line amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Celebration cake, agreed specification v2 | 1 | $180 | $180 |
| Agreed delivery service | 1 | $20 | $20 |
| Subtotal before any applicable tax | $200 | ||
| Recorded payment credit | โ$60 | ||
| Balance before any applicable tax | $140 |
The credit reduces the balance, not the price of the cake. If a tax amount applies, add it using the correct basis for your location and transaction before stating the final amount due. Do not copy a sample tax percentage from another order.

Check the arithmetic and status
Subtotal equals the sum of charge lines. Balance equals subtotal plus applicable tax minus recorded credits. A payment still pending is not a confirmed credit. If a scope change adds a new charge, retain the revised agreement rather than silently changing a previously accepted document.
Confirm the recipient, due date, currency and delivery inclusion before sending. Do not expose recipe ingredient costs or your labor calculation in the customer invoice unless that is deliberately part of the agreed billing model. Keep internal costing and customer charges separate.
Limits
This is a plain billing layout, not accounting software, legal advice or a compliant tax invoice for every jurisdiction. It does not process a payment, confirm a booking or replace required local records. Do not include bank or customer details in publicly shared sample files.
The cake quote template owns the pre-acceptance offer. The cake contract template records the agreed obligations. For bakery cost calculations before billing, use the cake pricing calculator.
