Being harmed and examining your response to a current problem are different questions. Actual victimization does not disappear because an action is now available, and the absence of an available action does not show immaturity.

A worked situation: Workplace harassment

Fictional example. A worker experiences harassment and documents it through a safe channel. The harasser remains responsible for the harm; documenting it is an available response, not proof the worker caused or could prevent it.

The distinction cannot be made by dismissing the harm

Begin with what happened and who is responsible for the harmful action. Then examine current choices and constraints separately. A request for help is not proof of a role, and a response choice does not transfer blame. The authored metaphor should remain a reflection lens on an episode, never a clinical label or an accusation against a victim.
