Completed fictional tasting record
SAMPLE DATA: a fictional couple compares two combinations for a wedding cake. The notes below illustrate recording a preference; they are not a recipe recommendation, an allergy assessment or real customer feedback.
| Sample | Flavor and filling | Observation | Decision or follow-up |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | Vanilla with berry filling | Preferred the lighter sweetness; liked the fruit contrast | Ask about the agreed filling specification |
| B | Chocolate with chocolate filling | Preferred the stronger chocolate flavor; felt richer | Keep as an alternative; confirm event preference |
The outcome is a stated preference, not a claim that one sample is objectively better. Record the sample identifier so the baker can connect the note to the correct preparation and date.

Before and after the tasting
Before serving, identify the samples accurately and discuss relevant ingredient questions through your established process. Do not infer an allergy-safe product from a tasting preference or a blank checkbox. Follow appropriate local food-business and handling requirements.
Afterward, distinguish an accepted flavor decision from a possible alternative. If the final cake has a different size, structure, finishing method or serving arrangement, verify the final specification rather than assuming the tasting sample settles every production detail.
Move the decision into the quote
A tasting sheet does not reserve an event date, settle a price or create a contract. Put the selected combination, quantity and agreed design version in the customer quote. Record an outstanding question as outstanding; do not fill it with a guess to make the form look finished.
The wedding cake quote template handles the event offer. The cake order form captures the full production specification. Keep private customer and ingredient records in your own files, not in publicly shared completed examples.
