This original workbook helps you write down what you notice without turning every sensation into a diagnosis. Across five sessions, separate observation, interpretation, context and an appropriate next step. Use a pace that feels workable; skip inward observation if it is distressing.

Start with the scope

Choose an ordinary, nonurgent observation you want to describe more accurately. This is not a screening tool and has no “healthy body” score. Do not begin a workbook session instead of obtaining care for a serious symptom.

Interoception is a scientific term for processing internal bodily signals. Attention to a signal does not by itself establish accurate interpretation of its cause. H03 The workbook's forms are original and have not been validated as a measure of interoception or a medical treatment.

Session 1: observation and interpretation

Completed fictional example — SAMPLE DATA

This example shows how to fill in the form. It is not a real person’s record, a diagnosis, a validated assessment or a promised outcome. Use your own observations and appropriate professional advice for actual health concerns.

Chair contactSeated at a deskAn ordinary contact sensation; no diagnosisThis does not establish a cause or health condition

Use concrete language. “My jaw feels clenched during this meeting” is an observation. “This proves that the meeting harmed my nervous system” adds a causal conclusion the record cannot establish.

Session 2: describe the context

Fill in Activity: ____; position: ____; recent change: ____; duration noticed: ____; relevant prescribed care or restriction: ____. The goal is a useful description, not an exhaustive diary of every pulse or movement.

Fictional example: a person notices shoulder tension after an extended laptop session. They record the activity and timing without diagnosing a spinal problem. If the sensation persists or concerns them, the record can help explain it to a clinician.

Session 3: select an appropriate response

QuestionMy answer
Is this an urgent or concerning symptom? This example cannot assess symptoms or urgency
Do I need advice about it?For a real concern, use appropriate professional advice
Is a comfortable ordinary adjustment appropriate?Only if appropriate to the real situation; no treatment is prescribed
Would observation itself increase distress?Stop observation if it increases distress
What will I do next?Return to an ordinary task or seek appropriate help for a concern

A comfortable adjustment might mean using an already tolerated seated position. It is not a prescribed exercise, manipulation or proof of a corrected cause. If you are unsure, ask a qualified provider.

Session 4: notice the effect without a causal claim

Record What I chose: ____; what I noticed afterward: ____; what else changed: ____; what cannot be concluded: ____.

In the fictional example, the person takes an ordinary break and later feels less shoulder tension. That observation does not prove which mechanism caused the change or that the same choice treats a condition.

Session 5: prepare a useful question

What I want help understanding: ____________________________
Description of the sensation and its timing: _______________
Effect on ordinary activities: ____________________________
Relevant context / existing care: __________________________
What I have tried and noticed: ____________________________
Question for the appropriate clinician: ____________________

Do not expect a workbook to establish what a professional assessment should conclude. Its useful deliverable is a clear account and a question.

HUMAN's author framework

Kerub presents the body as an interconnected system and distinguishes brief awareness from hypervigilant self-inspection. This workbook uses that organizational lens while deliberately separating observations from medical explanations. [A_HUMAN:18]

The engineering model, credentials and any patent are not efficacy evidence for these forms. No claim is made that completing the sequence restores circulation, resolves trauma or prevents a disease.

Limits and stopping

NCCIH notes that some relaxation practices can produce unwanted psychological experiences. H02 If this record encourages escalating checking or distress, pause it and seek appropriate advice. Optional observation should not become a compulsory test of health.
