An enjoyable activity can still be postponed when the start is vague, the standard is high, or other commitments crowd it out. Enjoyment does not prove that time, energy, and access are sufficient.
A worked situation: Painting
Fictional example. A reader enjoys painting but treats every session as the start of a finished masterpiece. Setting out materials for one color study makes a different kind of start available.
Work through these questions: Painting
| Question or field | Fictional completed example |
|---|---|
| Enjoyed activity? | Painting |
| Oversized standard? | A finished masterpiece |
| Feasible start? | One color study |
| Resource need? | Paints already available |
| Evidence? | A small completed study |
Enjoyment does not define the size of the task
An enjoyable activity can still be framed as a large performance with an unrealistic finish line. Record the actual activity, resources, and standard you attached to it. Choose an affordable first piece if that is useful, or obtain the missing input. This example does not establish the cause of every delayed pleasurable activity or treat a clinical condition.
